2000 NEON STALLS - NO REMEDIES
Hi,
my 2000 neon randomly stalls and i would like to hear comments from drivers who experienced the same problem.
Thanks in advance.

Brief description:
2000 Dodge Neon - 5 Speed - 60,000 miles
[ul][*]stalls randomly at stop lights/exits/intersections especially after slowing down from 65mph or more.[*]Engine light is never on.[*]AC is ON or OFF doesnt matter.[*]Only engine stalls but radio etc works.[*]Oil light comes on as expected.[*]Stalls on 1st gear when cluched down or on idle.[/ul]
History:
Neon first started stalling about 7 months ago at the intersection. I had my AC on so i thought it was a simple stall because of the ac. i ignored and continued. Problem happened again at the same intersection next day and day after without AC.
I took it to 2 different dodge dealers"$$$" and car stayed for a few days in both dealers and they said that they put miles on the car but they couldnt get the engine light on so they couldnt read any codes therefore dealers areno help. SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!And the funny thing is, the car stalled at the intersection before i was entering one of those dealers.
Then i took it to a local mechanic who was magician in "stalling problems" i was told. mechanic offered to use fuel injection cleaning system. Mechanic also told like the dealer that they let the car run for 40 minutes and took it to ride on beltway but never stalled!!!!? (weird) they also said my computer data report was normal.
These days when i take medium-long ride like 25 to 35 minutes and go over 65mph and slow at the exit; the car will stall.
i first hit the brakes and slow the carand lower the gear at slower speeds and immediately put it on 1st gear and still stalls.
Any comments?
THANKS!!!

o2 sensor could be a problem, idle/ timing could be another problem, have u ever had a tune up on ur car...those would be my opinions...go with the basics at 1st ...do all coolant checks and all that stuff just to eliminate problems, oil changes and etc....thats what id do man...eliminate the simple things first

Does it buck or surge or just turn off like you turned the key off?
Possible sensor shorting out. MAP sensors are known to cause this on occasion. Could also be a IAC. You probaably need to get a scan tool on this while it does this monitoring primary sensors to see what happens.

is this scan tool something i can buy?there is a computer connector cable i found on ebay but i am not sure how to use it with a laptop or what. just a messy messy weird problem.

I don't think so as those fail (pull the fuse once) they choke themselves out on falling fuel pressure and run rough. If it is just turning off that means the fuel injectors or spark is turning off cold. So a sensor cutting out intermittently LIKE MAP, Cam or Crank. Or one sensor shorting taking out Reference voltage and thus cutting everything off.
I'd really say look at the sensors on reference voltage and see what gives. Something is either momentarily cutting out or shorting out reference voltage causing a signal loss and thus timing and fuel cut off.
