Default hemi head compatibility

hey everybody new to the site. so I have come across a 2012 5.7 block from a 2500. I am stripping it down and rebuilding it. I happen to have a pair of heads from a 2003-2008 5.7. I have seen posts about putting newer heads on older blocks with different head gaskets but I need to know about the other way round old heads on new block. I know it seems silly since the new heads flow so much better but this is a budget build to Frankenstein a 5.7 hemi into my 1999 ford ranger. any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated.

if I hadn't gotten the block and heads for free you would be right but I work on these for a living. I can rebuild it for 800 dollars in parts. a used motor around me runs about 2000 dollars

If you work on these for a living, why can't you determine if they will work or not?
What's the hold up? Or did I miss something?

the head was redesigned for 2010 so the 2003-2009 head is not the same as 2010 up
