Default Adjust transmission cable

98 dodge 1500, I was told to take the tv cable clip off and while the gas pedal is to the floor, lock the clip in place. The transmission shifts real smooth but it seems like I'm going threw more gas. Is this possible? And how should I adjust?

Whoever told you to adjust this with gas pedal to floor has lost their mind. If tranny is shifting well, TV cable is not the issue. I would not mess with it.

Did gas mileage suddenly drop from what it was?

Have you downloaded the service manual from the FAQ/DIY section?

With throttle blades closed, the cable clip should be aligned with the stud on the throttle body with no slack in the cable. Is my understanding anyway. I've set mine at this position, and adjusted the cable for slightly firmer shifts. I do notice a slight (1 MPG) decrease with the firmer shifts. Google "bionic dodge, TV cable adjustment". Has a pretty good article with pics. Or reference svc manual as said earlier for factory adjustment.
