P0734 trouble code
I was driving to work going 75 MPH on the turnpike and I noticed my Durango was revving at 3000 RPM instead of the normal 1800 - 2000 RPM. I shifted into neutral and then back into drive thinking the gauge must be wrong as it the engine was not wailing loudly. No change and I continued to work with higher RPM's. Went to the bank later in the day and it started to shift, but then stopped in third gear while the engine light came on. My Diablo showed code P0734 (gear 4 incorrect ratio) and that explained the high RPM's. I thought the Durango had a 7 year power train warranty which was not the case as it is 3 year 36,000.00 mile warranty. I have 61,250 miles on this Durango and I am hoping it is just a speed sensor. Has anyone else had this trouble code and what was the culprit?

FF:
Sorry to hear you have this issue.
The 7/70 PT warranty was on the 03, 04, and 05 Chrysler vehicles.
As of July 2007, 06-09 Chrysler vehicles had the 3/36 along with a Lifetime powertrain warranty for the original buyer only.
They discontinued the Lifetime deal later in 09 and now have the 3/36 coupled with a 5/100 PT warranty.

update:
Since I bought the Durango for my company vehicle is it excluded form the lifetime power train warranty as it is labeled a fleet vehicle. Thanks to master tech for the information. Forth gear was metal on metal and the other four gears were close to failing according to the technician. $3,200.00 to rebuild and I only have myself to blame as the power upgrades and my style of driving probably hastened the wear on the clutch plates. Anyone interested in a slightly used Durango with a year warranty on the transmission so I can get the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8?
