Default Brake light and ABS light on...

So out for a drive tonight and out of the blue the Brake warning light and my ABS warning light come on.

Got home and checked over the system best I could in the dark. Fluid level is up, pedal feels no different than before, brake lights all function.

Ideas?

Where is the ABS sensor located on these trucks?

On the half ton its on the rear diff and its easy for the wire to corrode and get nasty. If you have 4 wheel abs then there is on both unit bearings in the front. Also the brake light switch could also cause it.

Agreed. The ABS is on the top center on the carrier housing and usually always one on the drivers side wheel hub with an optional one on the pass side wheel hub

Turned out to be an open circuit reading from the left front sensor. Just so happens that 2 weeks ago I had that wheel bearing replaced.

My 03 has 4 wheel ABS. Same thing happened with mine, ABS light comes on, the off, intermittantly, then stayed on. Checked all connections, etc during brake job, checked out ok. Turned out my pass side hub assbly/bearing bad.

I have my truck in the shop today for the ABS light. Seems like the sensor line can rub against the rotor. It may have not been ran correctly when the dealership I bought it from did hub work on it.

Sounds like a warranty repair! Yeah, actually replacing mine today, they gotta make sure they place that ABS line in the clamps...pretty long and without it being clamped will flail all over the place.

I'm going to have my mechanic look at it next week for me. I'm hoping it's just something as simple as the retainer clip not being properly seated when they put everything together last time.
