Default Heater Core Foam?

i have my truck schedualed for getting the heater core replaced in a few days...and the core i bought came with no foam insulation...so now im a bit worried. looking everywhere...every picture has different sizes of foam around the edgs of the cores...has anyone done this? id like to know what you used and the tickness of the foam you used (if possible) also reading...o rings need to be replaced as well? of course i dont have those either. so sizes for those would be needed as well. i drive a 01 dodge ram 1500. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably for the A/C lines..... the 'correct'™ way.... means disconnection the lines, and physically removing the heater box from the truck.

Fighting with HVAC boxes in the truck sucks. lol

I always remove them completely if there's no access panel for the core.

Avox-

That foam is there to keep the thing from rattling around. Though mostly just irritating to listen to, plastic certainly can and does rub holes in metal parts over time, especially thin aluminum like a heater core. Go to the auto parts store or home depot and get some 1/4" x 1" dense foam weatherstripping and wrap the core. Add layers if it still wiggles easily after the top of the box is reinstalled.
