Default nut size?

anyone know what size socket I need to remove the pinion nut on my 9.25? I am gonna try to replace my pinion bearings and crush sleeve. been doing alot of reading and think I can handle it ( quoted 600 bucks parts and labor ) will be good practice anyway.

dont know the 9.25, if they are anything like the dana 60 it is a 1 11/16". That job seems like a fun one, not to hard but has tricks to make it work. The crappy part behind this job is that if you mess it up, you could end up with your drive shaft dragging on the ground till is slides out of the slip yoke on the t-case. Big breaker bar and penetrating oil helps

Mine are to big to handle.

Axles are one thing I wont touch and you might want to get a few crush sleeves.

posting this for future searchers. pinion nut for 9.25 rear end is 1 1/4. also mine was easy to loosen with a 1/2" breaker bar. I was expecting a bigger fight considering the 200 plus foot pound torque spec. I have also learned that the factory pinion nut either has no "locking" properties or at least very little. I have read that a GM 8.5 pinion nut may be an improved design and a better option for us. I will post my experiences when I get/install one.
