Default whining noise coming from engine??

I have a 2003 Ram with a Hemi that has 67,000 miles and now that the temperature is falling out side everytime I start my truck there is a whine coming from the engine that sounds like a blower. When driving and pushing the gas pedal the whine gets louder. Let off the pedal and the whine is gone, and when the truck is fully warmed up you can't hear it anymore. I'm thinking throttle body needs cleaned. Any one else have this problem? Thanks

Sounds more like a belt or pulley to me bro'.
Cold weather and moisteur/condensation making the belt slip maybe?

Truck does'nt whine when turning so I was'nt thinking power steering pump. And it does'nt sound anything like a belt squeal, but could be, Thanks for your help.

Mine does this as well. I would be interested in what I can do to fix it. Thanks.

Belts squeal not whine, so that is out. The only thing on most engines that whine upon a cold start and disappear when warm is a power steering pump. Everything else will whine and continue whining even when warm.
I would check your fluid level and color. The racks on these trucks are notorious for leaks.

Sounds like your idler pully. I haven't had this problem with my ram, but I've had the same problem out of my 00 Intrepid and 06 Trailblazer. Idler pully has a seal bearing in it. Bearings aren't of the highest quality. It might be going out. Whines really loud at idle changes pitch with engine speed. It sounds like a power steering pump with no fluid in it. Cheap and easy fix.

I don't think the idler would stop whining when warmed up.... I vote for the power steering pump.

I vote nothing is wrong and that it is the fan hub...mine does it to when its below zero *C and goes away after a block or so. It sounds like a big fan moving lots of air right?
