Default Sludge still a problem on new 4.7L?

I've read too much about the sludge problems of the 4.7L v8 (235hp version). I know they have made some changes for the '08 version to increase power (higher CR, twin-plugs, etc...), but has Dodge made any changes to remedy this issue?

i hate the 4.7 gas milage sucks and the thing has no power 98% of the time

never heard of engine sludge but when i put that oil additive in it i had a valve ticking so i had to drain the oil and put a lighter weight in it

my truck is a 2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4 auto with this motor and i hate it

Duh, 235HPish in a Ram is not going to whip it around the streets to well.

As for any issues in the new 4.7, well, only time will tell.

Yea, it's gonna take some time to see if sludge is an issue on the '08 4.7. It takes time to build up sludge and even though the 4.7 came out in the late 90s, I never heard of the issue till around '03...

Guys i agree with you my 4.7 is just fine, you have to remember its just 287 c.i.!
and right at 7000 lbs is quite a lot of weight to get moving, not counting if you have a set of mudders and keep a full tank of gas. That puts the weight at 7500-7600?
I once got behind a qc with the hemi on the freeway and we started going at it down the road so i pulled its ears back and held to the floor, the hemi did pull away from me, but not like i had expected, when we went up a pretty steep hill the hemis extra torque was what helped it pull away from me but on level ground i was NOT blown away as i thought i would be! For the record i love DODGE products, if i could get a hemi, straight, without the mds i would today.

I agree popps68. I too had ran with a buddy of mine who has the hemi RC and he didn't leave me. I don't really care for the big mudders specially on a 4x2. I have the 4x2 and its a QC with the 4.7 6 speed and 3.92 gears and it does fine. I would of bought the Hemi one they had but sorry to say they don't make it with a stick. I like changing my own gears. That's why I'm converting my 92 camaro soon.

I don't know what everyones issues are with the 4.7 but I love mine. I don't know though maybe because mine weighs less since its a 2rd long bed. I thinks its like a 500lb difference. Also I have a CAI and exhaust
