Hi, my names Cory, im new to the site. I found it while looking for info on my truck. Its a 2002 ram 1500 2wd 3.7l. It runs great and ive never had any trouble till yesterday. Suddenly the trans wont shift into 3rd. Its perfect in 1st and shift 2nd fine, but when it tries to shift to 3rd its as if you put it in neutral. HELP! I think the trbl is electrical because it happened all of a sudden and the fluid level is good and i keep up on the fluid/filter changes.I pulled codes with my ODBII scanner and get p0733 and p0734 (gear ratio incorrect). Let me know what you think it could be... I want to fix it myself if possible. thanks!

 

The manual says internal transmission selenoids or the trans itself.

 

hell...try resetting the computer. i mean, it's worth a shot, and doesn't cost anything. that sucks *** though.

 

Usually when it kicks out of gear like that, the trans is shot.

 

thanks for the replys guys. I did try resetting the computer by clearing the codes with my scanner, didnt help. I hope the whole transmission isnt bad. I asked a local mechanic and he recommended input and output speed sensors on the transmission, and if that didnt work his next recommendation was the solinoid. Now i have to figure out if the truck doesnt in fact have multiple speed sensors. The local parts store didnt any listed. They only had a rear diff speed sensor, but i think that was strictly for the ABS...
