Man, ditto that (except for the choice of manual -- Chilton's and Haynes are useful only if you have a bird). Better off buying a real shop manual.
Understood --but poor, wrong, or just incomplete information can cost way more than a c-note. Both those books are notoriously useless, IMO. I've bought them, hoping they'd help with a project or a repair, only to find their information incomplete or seriously wrong. As long as he doesn't start the project with just one of those, but is aware that before a project of this magnitude is begun, a real manual will help a whole bunch.
