Default Front Wheel Bearing Replacement

Need to replace front wheel bearing on 2000 Stratus. Second time in 30,000 miles. What are procedures? I'm not a bad amature mechanic. Had them done by a pro 4 years ago at $300 each. One is bad. Any special tools required?

Do yourself a favor and spend $20 on the Chilton/Haynes Manual.

Well, hopefully they got away from using those idiotic male torx head bolts on the 97's. I had to get a set of star sockets that would take those off. There were 3 of them and the whole hub/bearing assembly comes off.

I too have a 00' Strat. Oh hell no those torx bolts are still there! I did both of my front bearing assys with the best parts i could find. I guess man just set aside some time, jack that thing up, get the wheel off, and go to town! just dont forget to zip tie the caliper up so as to keep it out of the way, and not let it get ripped off! That was my mistake, so i went ahead and replaced the brake line on both sides also. There is also a need for a big *** socket, i think its a 34mm, lemme check the "Orange Book". Thank god it came with the car....Crappy i cant find any specifics, but you can rent the hub bolt socket set from Checker. Im not sure about the procedure for a Strat with ABS, other than it takes longer and is a pain in the ***.... You can do it, but have a 24 inch breaker bar handy for those torx bits! Also, before you junk the old ones, try cleaning them! There might just be some gunk inside the outer ring thats grinding. Make sure all mating surfaces are clean so you get a true mount. Later.
