I just went to the local dodge dealer and they gave me a price for a stock lsd (witch I will not be getting) and labor to put it in. They quoted me $750 for parts and $500 labor. That seems to be on the high end. I live in Oshkosh Wisconsin and was wondering if anyone has a place that they would recommend in the area. Thanks.
Moe's Performance has the Auburn LSD for about $385. Any good mechanic should be able to put it in (it's the gears that are a bitch - the LSD install by itself is not an issue) with under 2 hrs. labor.

7 HOURS!!!!! FOR JUST AN LSD INSTALL IN THE REAR!!!!! Man, they saw you coming!
Hey..... any of you guys on here that are Chrysler mechanics, chime in here... What does the book say?

Can't wait did a google search - here is a quote from an article on how to install an LSD from 4 Wheeler Magazine:

"We installed Eaton's Carbon limited-slip differential in the rear axle of one of our workhorse four-bys, a '95 Chevy K2500. Matt Dinelli at Attitude Performance in Arlington Heights, Illinois completed the install in a little over an hour."

If you would like a link to the entire article, here: http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...all/index.html
But I'd still like to know what the Chrysler Service Book says...

Couldn't sit on this one, called my local Dodge dealer:
Parts quote is:$513.60
Labor quote is: $290.00

That's what? A good $400 less than your dealer. Really pisses me off how 2 different Chrysler Dealers could be so different on the same quote!!! Still high even at my dealer though, you could get a jam-up Auburn unit plus installation for around $600 by a reputable mechanic and have twice the unit than that Mopar is.

when i had the guy from JTE do the gears and LSD swap it took him about 2 hrs total....bought the Auburn LSD from moesperformance and the gears from a shop here ($150 for the gears with my Chrysler discount lol) and he charged me $175 for the install...not really very cheap but at least this way I was there watching and helping him do it so I know it was done right...the dealer likes to screw up every once in awhile

Wow way too much money. Look up a local 4wd club, be it Jeep, ford or whatever, those guys will know the best gear installer in the area. Plus, now would be the time to change gears as well as long as the mechanic is in there. As stated, check Moe's and Randy's Ring and Pinion.
