01 Intrepid ES - P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
I have a problem with my 2001 Intrepid ES. This morning on my way to work the enginedied at a red light. When I restarted, the engine light came on and has been on since. I haven't been noticing anything different since thenother than that it's harder to start it. I bought a car reader and got P0340 as the error code which means "Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction." Anybody has any ideas as to what to check? Is it something I can fix or do I have to take it to the dealership?
I appreciate any advice.
George

Check out this link, I know it's not the same year, but it should be about (if not exactly) the same. It is a easy replace item.

no not the same the ones in that post are for 3.2 and 3.5 engines u would have a new 3.5 or 2.7 the cam sensor in up front above the belt, driver side. 1 10mm bolt and one plug, put it in ,dont unplug the batt, drive the car 3 to 5 days so the computer will see good trips. if it is fixed the PCM will turn off the check engine light for u and u know with 100% that its fixed.

Help with 99 Dodge Intrepid
Our 99 Intrepid is our only vehicle!! And it will not start. It turns over and it is not the fuel pump, fuel filter, or cam sensor. We know very little about cars and are a little frustrated and need it working ASAP!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have had some minor issues accellerating from a stop recently, she seemed like she wanted to stop and then zoom off she went and seemed fine. In the past several weeks she has had trouble starting 4 or 5 times but always managed after a little rest. Now, 2 days and nothing!!! Please help!!!

without tools, equipment, factory service manual, and knowledge, trying to fix a complex problem like this is nearly impossible. the BEST solution is get it repaired by someone with knowledge, skills, equipment. otherwise you'll just be guessing and spending on parts that may or may not fix the problem.
